Individual Victory
Jason has won the individual Open Championship meeting at Newcastle. He finished second in his opening ride but then went on to take wins from his next four races. This 14 points put him comfortably top of the leader-board and his place in the Grand Final was settled. Here he took a well-deserved victory ahead of Carl Wilkinson and home-track riders Christian Henry and Josef Franc.

Doyle Delivers for Bandits
Jason top-scored for Berwick with 13+1 as they overturned an 11 point deficit to reach the final of the Young Shield. Berwick trailed the Isle of Wight after the first leg but produced a strong display to win 58-37 in the secong leg, therefore claiming a 100-90 aggregate win.
Berwick will face Workington in the final, for whom Jason scored 17 points in their first leg on Thursday.
Next up for Doyle is a trip to Newcastle for an individual challenge meeting tomorrow (Sunday).

Silverware for Somerset
Jason scored 14 points as Somerset claimed the Knock-Out Cup with a convincing win over Workington Comets. The Rebels began the meeting holding a 3 point lead after the first leg, and got off to a flying start with two 5-1 heat advantages in the opening two heats. Doyle had easy wins in heats one and six, by which point the Rebels were already 12 points up on the night. Workington picked up a win with a tactical ride but this didn't stop Somerset, who immediately hit back with a 5-1.
Jason took another win in heat 10 before being beaten for the only time on the night in 13. He lifted badly at the start and did well to make it through to second place but couldn't pass Jason Lyons for the lead. Doyle wrapped up speedway at the Oak Tree Arena for 2008 in typical style, with a tapes to flag victory, wrapping up a 52-41 win, making the score 98-84 to the Rebels on aggregate.
Jason now travels to Berwick to ride as a guest against the Isle of Wight in the Young Shield Semi-Final tomorrow (Saturday). He is also due to be competing in an individual challenge meeting at Newcastle on Sunday (19th).

A Welcome Guest
Jason scored a magnificent 17 points for Workington, but the Comets suffered a 48-43 defeat at Redcar in their Young Shield Semi-Final first leg. By the end of heat 5 Doyle had already notched up three heat wins, as he was able to take an extra ride due to the Comets operating rider replacement for the injured Kauko Nieminen. The Aussie proved to be equally as busy after the interval, riding in heat 11 as well as all of the final three heats. Workington were trailing by 8 points after heat 13 and therefore put Doyle in as a tactical substitute from 15 metres back in the penultimate race. He passed Andre Compton on the second lap and the Comets finished with a 5-2 heat advantage. Another second place in a shared closing heat saw Doyle reach his 17 points and Workington finish with a 5 point deficit to make up at home in the second leg.
In a bizarre twist that only speedway can produce, Jason will be hoping to become Workington's tormentor tomorrow (Friday), as Somerset entertain the Comets in the second leg of the Knock-Out Cup Final. The Rebels hold a three point advantage after the first leg.
Jason will make another Young Shield appearance on Saturday night (18th), this time as a guest for Berwick. The Bandits take on the Isle of Wight at home in the second leg of their semi-final. The Islanders currently hold an 11 point lead.

Guest Booking
Jason has been booked to ride as a guest for Workington in their Young Shield fixture at Redcar on Thursday (16th). He will replace the injured Daniel Nermark at number 1 for the Comets in the first leg of the Semi-Final of the competition.

Rebels Gain Advantage
Jason scored 10+1 as Somerset took a step towards Knock Out Cup glory with a 46-43 win at Workington in the first leg. After getting a flier in the opening heat, Doyle comfortably won the re-run, and he took another three points from his second ride of the night. Heat 11 saw the Rebels pick up a maximum score with Jason following Jordan Frampton home. However, heat 13 was less successful with the Aussie being excluded after an engine failure saw him excluded at the tapes under the two minute rule. Unfortunately an attempt to change bike was deemed to be out of time. The scores were level at this stage, however Somerset picked up a 5-0 in heat 14 after a re-run with only three riders was effectively over at the tapes as Joe Haines suffered engine failure. A second place from Doyle in the final heat wrapped up an excellent result for Somerset.
The second leg will be held at the Oak Tree Arena on Friday 17th, where the Rebels will be hoping for a victorious night in front of their home fans.

Rebels Reign in Nail-Biter
Somerset secured a 53-39 home victory over Edinburgh in the second leg of the Play-Off Semi-Final but the Monarchs held on to make the final with a 96-87 aggregate win. Jason scored 12 points for the Rebels, picking up three points from his first two rides but then completing three comfortable heat wins. With four heats remaining, the Rebels held a 16 point advantage on the night and a very difficult task had begun to look distinctly possible. However a 5-1 for the visitors in heat 12 swung the fixture back in favour of the Monarchs. Despite Jason producing wins in two of the last three heats, Somerset remained agonisingly short of the aggregate scoreline.
This was a gutsy and very strong performance from the Rebels, who now turn their attention to Knock-Out Cup Final action. They travel to Workington for the first leg on Saturday (11th).

Monarchs Gain Advantage
Edinburgh seized the advantage in the first leg of the Premier League Play-Off semi-final with a 57-36 home victory. Jason scored 15 points for the visitors, getting off to a great start with a win in the opening heat. He had gained another victory by the time heat 11 came round but the Rebels were trailing by 26 points...cue Doyle in the black and white helmet. The tactical ride paid off with Jason picking up 6 points for the win and being followed home by his team-mate for a Somerset 8-1. Heat 13 was the only dark spot on a bright night for Jason individually, picking up a last place, the only time he was beaten on the night. However he made up for this in the only way he knows how, by racing to yet another win in the final heat, finishing in the fastest race time of the night.
Somerset host Edinburgh on Wednesday (8th), where they will be hoping to show the kind of form that has seen them produce many big scores this season. The Rebels gained a narrow victory last time the Monarchs visited the Oak Tree Arena.

Play-Off Time
Somerset travel to Edinburgh tomorrow (Friday) to contest the first leg of their play-off semi-final against the Monarchs. The Rebels will be looking to avenge the heavy defeat they suffered on their last visit to Armadale.
The return leg at the Oak Tree Arena will take place on Wednesday October 8th.
In other news, Somerset's opponents for the Knock-Out Cup Final have finally been decided, over a month after the Rebels booked their spot. They will face Workington Comets in a two-legged final. The first leg will be at Workington on Saturday October 11th with the Cumbrian side making the return trip on Friday October 17th.

Rawicz Victorious At Last!
Jason scored 9+2 as Rawicz picked up their first victory of the season with a 48-44 win over Rybnik. The Aussie picked up two heat wins and three second places to provide crucial points to the cause of his struggling Rawicz team. He also recorded the fastest race time of the night.
Rawicz have one fixture remaining, away to Grudziadz on Sunday (5th), but will remain rooted to the bottom of the league table whatever the result.

Aussie Rules
Jason was joint top-scorer for the Australian team as they prevailed over England in the Under 23 Test Match. He scored 13+1 from 5 rides as the Aussies clinched the three match series with a 52-40 victory in the decider at the Oak Tree Arena.
Doyle opened his account with a second place behind Elite League rider Lewis Bridger but the Somerset favourite was back to winning ways in his next outing. Heat 9 saw the Aussie Rebel make a brilliant start and then extend this advantage to take an easy victory over another Elite League rider, Edward Kennett. A perfect display of team riding was seen in heat 13 with Doyle and Chris Holder picking up maximum points for the Aussies. The same scoreline was repeated in the final heat of the night, with Jason leading home Troy Batchelor to secure the meeting and the series for the Australian team.
Jason now heads to Poland as his Rawicz side, still looking for their first victory of the season, take on RKM Rybnik on Sunday.

Defeat Ends Title Hopes
Jason scored 15+1 against Birmingham but couldn't prevent a Somerset defeat, which saw them relinquish their league title hopes. Doyle won the opening heat, pulling clear after a good battle with Craig Watson. After a second place, Jason's third outing began from 15 metres back when he was nominated as a tactical substitute. He again finished as runner-up, with his team-mate in third, giving the Rebels an important heat advantage. Somerset then took the lead in heat 11, with Doyle and Jordan Frampton teaming up for a 5-1. However, it wasn't to be for the Rebels, with the final result ending in a 48-44 defeat, with Jason having picked up another two second places.
This result handed the Premier League title to Edinburgh, with Somerset guaranteed second spot.
Friday sees the Oak Tree Arena host the re-staged Under 23 Test Match between England and Australia. Jason will ride at number 5 for for the Aussies, having missed the original meeting due to injury. |

Victory on the Island
Jason scored 14 points as Somerset kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a 49-41 away win against the Isle of Wight. The Aussie won his opening three outings comfortably, making good use of the knowledge of his former home track. His only defeat of the night came in heat 13 when Jason Bunyan managed to sneak round his outside on the last bend. However, Doyle got his revenge in the final heat, bringing up his fourth win of the night as part of a Rebels 5-1 alongside Jordan Frampton.
This win was a particularly impressive performance from the Somerset team as the Islanders had not previously been beaten at home all season.
The Rebels now travel to Birmingham tomorrow (Wednesday) knowing that another win is crucial to maintain their league hopes. |
| 21/09/2008 |
Runner-Up in PLRC
Jason finished as runner-up in the Premier League Riders Championship at Sheffield. His night didn't get off to the ideal start, finishing in third place in the opening heat, behind Jason Bunyan and eventual winner Tai Woffinden. He followed this up with two wins and two second places, both of these being behind fellow finalists, Kauko Nieminen and Adrian Rymel. This brought Doyle on to 11 points and put him into the semi-final where he gained revenge on Bunyan, finishing in second to secure a place in the final. Here Jason put Woffinden under huge pressure but couldn't quite take the win. Although coming agonisingly close to victory, second place represents a fantastic performance in what was a very strong line-up.
Jason returns to his Rebels' team-mates for Somerset's re-arranged trip to the Isle of Wight on Tuesday (23rd).

Record Win for Rebels
Jason scored an 11+1 paid maximum as Somerset cruised to a landslide 72-18 victory over Mildenhall Fen Tigers. On a night when the top six Rebels all scored paid maximums, Doyle set the tone from the ouset by winning the opening heat comfortably. Two more outright victories followed before the Aussie teamed up with Jordan Frampton to ride home yet another Rebels maximum advantage in heat 13. The result was Somerset's biggest ever win and helps maintain momentum towards the play-offs.
Jason's next outing sees him travel to Sheffield for the Premier League Riders Championship on Sunday (21st). He has been drawn at number 4 for this meeting, meaning his challenge gets underway in the opening heat.

| 17/09/2008 |
Points Through The Pain
Jason scored an impressive 10 points from four rides in the Four Team Tournament held at Poole's Wimborne Road. Although still suffering the after-effects of last week's nasty crash, Doyle showed more of the excellent form that he has demonstrated all season, and that has led to him being tipped as one of the favourites for Sunday's Premier League Riders Championship.
Three race wins on a visibly difficult track provided a good return to the Aussie's former home, and he received a very warm reception from the Poole fans.
Jason now steps back into Rebels colours for the visit of Mildenhall to the Oak Tree Arena on Friday. |
| 16/09/2008 |
Fit For a Return
Jason has confirmed he is fit to take his place in the Four Team Tournament being held at Poole tomorrow (Wednesday). He will line up as part of a Premier League All Stars team, alongside Kevin Doolan, Tai Woffinden and Shane Parker. Tapes go up at 7:30pm.
|
| 14/09/2008 |
Injury Update
The welcome news is that Jason's injuries are not as bad as was initially feared. Nothing is broken or dislocated but he is still very sore. His next scheduled meeting is Friday 19th, with the Premier League Riders Championship on the Sunday. It is hoped he will be fit to take part in these fixtures.

Injury Scare at Sheffield
Jason has suffered another injury scare as the Rebels slipped to a 50-40 defeat at Sheffield. The evening started well for the Aussie, picking up two wins and a second place form his first three rides. However, by heat 13, Somerset trailed by ten points and nominated Doyle as a tactical ride. This looked to be a successful move as he was well clear of the field, with his team-mate in second place, therefore putting the visitors on a potential 8-1 heat advantage. Then disaster struck as Jason hit the fence and required the ambulance to assist him on track. He remained at the stadium until the end of the meeting before making a precautionary visit to the hospital. Latest reports suggest a suspected dislocated shoulder, but more news will follow as it becomes available.
Jason is due to line up for the Australian Under 23 side in the Test Match against England Under 23 at the Oak Tree Arena tomorrow (Friday).

Rebels Reign at Smallmead
Somerset got the perfect start to an important week, completing a 53-39 away victory at Reading, with Jason scoring 12+2. This was the last ever Premier League match to take place at the Smallmead Stadium as the Racers are set for a year on the sidelines as they await completion of their new home. The Rebels couldn't have asked for a better start, with Doyle picking up a win in the opening heat, followed closely home by his team-mate. However the scores remained close early on with heat advantages being traded. Jason was beaten by an opponent for the only time on the night in heat 5 but teamed up with Jordan Frampton for another 5-1 in heat 11.
The Rebels began to assert their advantage after the interval and Reading could only manage a share of the points when using their tactical ride in heat 14. Somerset ended the night with an easy maximum advantage to wrap up the victory and take the three points.
The team now head to the Isle of Wight for the next stage of this crucial week in their league canpaign.
In other news, Jason has been drawn at number 14 for the Premier League Riders Championship, which takes place at Sheffield on Sunday September 21st. |
| 07/09/2008 |
Racing at Rawicz
Jason finally escaped the clutches of the British weather, scoring 12+1 for his Polish team. However he couldn't prevent another defeat for Rawicz, as they went down 41-49 to Latvian side Daugavpils. Doyle picked up two heat wins and three second places, one of these being part of a Rawicz 5-1. This result represents his best return in Poland this season.

Return to Rawicz
Jason scored 9 points in his first meeting in Poland for almost two months, but he couldn't prevent another Rawicz defeat. One win and three second places from five rides represents a good return for the Aussie as part of a team that have struggled throughout the campaign. The final score was a 41-52 defeat for Rawicz, who have yet to win this season.

| 30/08/2008 |
Battling the Pain Barrier
Jason battled through the pain of his injured wrist to score 16 points in Somerset's defeat at Berwick. His availability was a huge boost to the Rebels team as he would be a very difficult man to replace. Doyle had picked up an easy win and a second place by the time he was once again charged with the responsibility of taking a tactical ride in heat 11. He showed his importance to the team by picking up six points, but unfortunately his team-mate could only finish fourth. The Aussie picked up another comfortable victory in heat 13 but the Rebels fate was already decided. He finished second in the final race to bring up a brilliant 16 points but the result was a disappointing 58-35 defeat for the Rebels.
Somerset will look to get their title challenge back on track with an away fixture at Birmingham on Wednesday (3rd).

Injury Update
Having spoken to Jason the good news is that he has suffered no broken bones! He will assess the condition of his wrist in the morning before making a decision on whether he is fit to face Berwick.

Doyle Dealt Injury Blow
Jason, and the Rebels team, have been dealt a severe injury blow tonight with, as yet unconfirmed, reports suggesting the Aussie has suffered a broken wrist. He started off the night in fine form, notching up wins from his first two outings. However, the rest of the Somerset team were having less success and the scoreline reflected this, with Doyle being put out as a tactical ride off 15 metres in heat 8. Unfortunately things didn't turn out as planned and he managed to score a single point. Things became worse when Jason fell on the second lap of heat 11 and was attended to on the track before the race was re-run without him. He was fit enough to take his place in heat 13 and was leading the race when falling, with Ryan Fisher behind him having nowhere to go and hitting him. The ambulance was called out and took Jason to hospital. The latest news is that Mike Golding is with him and the suggestion is that the wrist is broken. More news will follow as it becomes available.
The final score on the night was 66-24 to the Monarchs. Somerset continue their title challenge at Berwick tomorrow (Saturday).
|
| 27/08/2008 |
Rebels Reign Over Monarchs
Jason scored 11 points from 4 rides as Somerset saw off the challenge of title rivals Edinburgh with a 48-44 win. He got off to a flying start with a win in the opening heat as part of a Rebels 5-1. Heat 6 saw his only defeat of the night when, after making the best start, he went too wide, allowing Ryan Fisher up the inside. Two more comfortable wins followed, taking the Aussie onto 11 points.
Somerset travel to Edinburgh for the return fixture on Friday (29th).
|
| 25/08/2008 |
Rebels Rocket Into Final
Jason scored 17 points as Somerset defeated the Rye House Rockets 96-88 on aggregate to reach the final of the Knock-Out Cup. Despite defeat in the second leg at Rye House tonight, the Rebels had done enough at the Oak Tree Arena to maintain their grasp on the tie. However, it was a close call as the Rockets seemed to be running away with the meeting, Doyle being used as a tactical ride as early as heat 5. In true form the Aussie won the race and kept his team in the hunt. His only defeat came in heat 11 but two more heat wins weren't far away. A coming together of three riders in heat 15 led to a re-start but the Rebels claimed a 5-1 to cement their place in the final.
Somerset will face either Edinburgh or Workington in the final.
|
| 22/08/2008 |
Paid Maximum for Doyle
Somerset made a useful start to their Knock-Out Cup semi-final against Rye House with a 53-38 win in the first leg. Jason top-scored for the Rebels with a 13+2 paid maximum. Somerset made the ideal start with a 5-1 in the opening heat, thanks to Doyle and Matthias Kroger. Different pairing but same result in heat 6, and the Rebels had already built up a significant advantage. Heat 10 saw Jason sweep round the outside of Tai Woffinden on the first bend and then never look back, taking the chequered flag in the fastest time of the night. The meeting then saw a lengthy delay due to a nasty crash but Doyle went on to record two more heat victories and complete his paid maximum.
The second leg of the semi-final will take place at Rye House on Bank Holiday Monday (25th), with a 4pm start.

Second Place for Somerset Pair
Jason took part in Jason Bunyan's testimonial meeting on the Isle of Wight tonight. The evening took the format of a pairs competition and the Aussie joined up with his Rebels team-mate Jordan Frampton. The pair finished on the same number of points as Eastbourne duo Edward Kennett and Lewis Bridger, however the Eagles pairing were awarded the win on count back.

| 16/08/2008 |
A Good Night's Work
Jason enhanced Somerset's title hopes by scoring 7(+1) points for Workington, helping them to a 53-39 win over Edinburgh. This result gives Somerset a 2 point cushion at the top of the Premier League.
Doyle proved his worth as a guest in the opening heat, shepherding his team-mate home for a Comet's 5-1. A second place in heat 6 was followed by an easy win, taking the Aussie on to 7 points. However, this is where he stayed after a seemingly unlucky exclusion in heat 13.
Jason's next meeting will be Somerset's Knock-Out Cup semi-final encounter with Rye House at the Oak Tree Arena on Friday (22nd). |
| 15/08/2008 |
Mixed Night for Doyle
Jason scored 9 points from 4 rides as Somerset cruised to a 67-21 victory over the Isle of Wight Islanders. The Aussie looked set for a successful evening from the outset, winning the opening heat in the fastest time at the Oak Tree Arena this year. This form continued with two further wins, just missing out on the Somerset track record held by Leigh Adams by 0.05 seconds in heat 10. However, Doyle's evening came to an abrupt end in heat 13 when he went wide on the last bend when in front, hitting the air-fence and ending up on top of it. It was a relief all round to see him get up and walk back to the pits, and he has reported not to be suffering from any ill-affects.
With Edinburgh in Premier Trophy action tonight, Somerset made the most of this opportunity to put a bit of daylight between themselves and the Monarchs at the top of the league. Jason will aim to further enhance the Rebels cause by making a guest appearance for Workington against Edinburgh at Derwent Park tomorrow (Saturday).
|
| 10/08/2008 |
More Rain at Reading
Heavy rain during the day delayed the start of Somerset's Premier League fixture at Reading. Work was done on the track and racing eventually got underway 90 minutes after the original start time. However, after just one race the decision was taken to abandon the meeting.

| 09/08/2008 |
Rain at Rye House
Somerset's Knock-Out Cup semi-final first leg at Rye House was postponed due to rain. The meeting at the Oak Tree Arena on Friday August 22nd will now become the first leg and the league fixture at Rye House on Bank Holiday Monday (25th) will become the second leg. The league match will be re-arranged for September, although a date is yet to be confirmed.

Rebels Roar Against Bears
Jason scored 12 (paid 13) points as Somerset clinched victory over the Redcar Bears. It was a hard-fought contest but the eventual outcome was a 48-42 win for the Rebels. The night got off to a disappointing start with the Rebels being on the wrong end of a 5-1. Jason seemed to be forced into the fence when challenging around the outside, he lost speed and was unable to get back on terms. Doyle's next race saw a complete turn-around for the Rebels, this time the Aussie made the gate and held his opponents behind him allowing his team-mate to come through for a maximum heat advantage. This brought Somerset back on level terms with the Bears and in the next race they gained a lead which they would never relinquish.
Jason claimed three more victories, including a thrilling heat 13 win over Gary Havelock after the lead had changed hands twice on the opening lap. Heat 15 saw an easier victory for Doyle, wrapping up a good win for the Rebels.
Somerset's trend of busy weekends continues as they travel to Rye House tomorrow (Saturday) for the first leg of their Knock-Out Cup semi-final and then to Reading on Sunday for a Premier League fixture. |
| 03/08/2008 |
Doyle Delivers But Rebels Beaten
Jason notched up a big 16 points but Somerset lost out 51-42 at Glasgow. The meeting remained close in the early stages with 5-1's being traded and heats being shared, however Glasgow began to pull away in the latter stages. Doyle continued his rich vein of form, making fast starts and pulling away from the field. Come heat 14 he had amassed four heat wins, however Somerset were 12 points in arrears and therefore nominated the Aussie as a tactical substitute to start from 15 metres back. The deficit was too much to make up on this occasion, with Doyle finishing third after arguably being hampered by his team-mate for two laps. Normal service was resumed in the final race with Jason picking up another three points.
This was a stand-out performance on a disappointing night for the Rebels, who do, however, remain top of the Premier League.
|
| 02/08/2008 |
Narrow Defeat for Rebels
Jason scored 12(+1) as a weakened Somerset team were narrowly beaten 46-44 by Workington Comets. Doyle opened with two second places, including chasing home Workington guest Gary Havelock in the opener. Heat 11 saw the Aussie touch the tapes at the start and subsequently begin the re-run from 15 metres back. The Workington duo got out in front and looked set to team ride to a maximum heat advantage, however a brilliant ride from Jason saw him split the pair and take the chequered flag. Heat 13 brought a Somerset 5-1, with Doyle following Jordan Frampton home to keep the Rebels well in contention for victory. The same pairing went into the final heat with a deficit of just two points but, despite a second victory for Doyle, it wasn't to be for the Rebels as Frampton came home behind the Comet's pair after falling and re-mounting.
It was a brave effort by the depleted Rebels who were running rider replacement to cover for Simon Walker and using Conference League rider Ben Taylor in place of Matthias Kroger.
Somerset's busy Premier League schedule sees them visit Glasgow tomorrow (Sunday). |
| 01/08/2008 |
Another Maximum!
Jason put on another fine display against the Reading Racers, recording a 15 point maximum as Somerset won 62-31. The Australian never looked under threat throughout the meeting, making the gate and getting ahead of the field. His main rival appeared to be Ulrich Ostergaard but the challenge didn't materialise as he failed to get close to Doyle all night.
The Rebels took the lead in heat 2 after a shared opener and never looked back, with Reading's only heat advantage coming with Ostergaard winning his tactical ride in heat 7. A 5-1 from Doyle and Jordan Frampton in heat 15 was a fitting end to a successful night for the Rebels.
Somerset's Premier League challenge continues tomorrow (Saturday) as they travel to Workington to take on the Comets who currently sit 3 points behind the table-topping Rebels. |
| 27/07/2008 |
Seventeen at Stoke
Jason notched up a richly-deserved and very important 17 points as Somerset claimed a 45-43 victory at Stoke that took them back to the top of the Premier League. His opening ride saw him take second place, the only time he was beaten across the line. The scores were neck and neck throughout the meeting but Doyle's wins in heats 13 and 15 sealed victory for the Rebels.
Somerset's next fixture sees them host Reading in a league meeting on Friday August 1st.

| 26/07/2008 |
Third in Fours
Somerset once again came agonisingly close to victory in a Super Sevens event, this time taking third place in the Premier League Fours. Jason won both his races in Group A, helping the Rebels progress through to the Grand Final where they would face Workington, Kings Lynn and Scunthorpe. Somerset were leading the competition until the latter stages, mainly thanks to two further wins from Doyle. However luck was not on their side, with Jordan Frampton suffering a puncture in the penultimate heat. Victory eventually went to the Workington Comets after they beat Kings Lynn in a run-off.
Final Result: 1st Workington (20), 2nd Kings Lynn (20), 3rd Somerset (19), 4th Scunthorpe (13).
Jason's busy schedule continues tomorrow (Sunday) as Somerset travel to Stoke in a Premier League encounter.
|
| 25/07/2008 |
Somerset Strike Back
Jason scored 14 points as the Rebels exacted their revenge on the Kings Lynn Stars with a 53-40 victory. It proved to be a rollercoaster night for the Australian as he arrived at the Oak Tree Arena at 7:29pm after getting stuck in traffic, but then went straight out to win the opening heat. He picked up a second place when covering the rider replacement in heat 5 and immediately followed this up with another win, this time as part of a Rebels 5-1.
Two more race wins were to come but then disappointment in heat 15 with an exclusion for causing Kevin Doolan to fall. However, a 14 point return, and a win for Somerset, strengthens their challenge for the Premier League title.
Jason lines up as part of Somerset's team for the Premier League Fours at Workington tomorrow (Saturday).

| 21/07/2008 |
Success at Smallmead
Bringing Jason in as a guest proved a shrewd decision for the Reading promotion as he top-scored for them with 13 points, helping them to a single point victory over the Berwick Bandits. Doyle was beaten only twice on the night, Adrian Rymel proving to be a thorn in his side. The Racers had opened up a big lead but a Bandits 8-1, with Rymel in as a tactical ride, reduced the margin. However Doyle's three race wins, along with the two second places, provided Reading with crucial points for their 47-46 victory.

Individual Success
Jason claimed victory in the Exmoor Chase Individual Championship at Somerset with a 15 point maximum. He was strong from the tapes throughout the meeting and never looked under threat. His nearest rival was Ben Barker who finished on 14 points, beaten only by Doyle in heat 15. Barker's final score set up a tense finale but Jason went out in the final heat knowing exactly what he needed to do, and went on to win the race - and the meeting - in true style.
Result: 1st Jason Doyle, 2nd Ben Barker, 3rd Simon Walker, 4th Joe Haines.

Rebels Outshone
Somerset suffered a setback in their title chase tonight with a 68-25 defeat against the Kings Lynn Stars. Jason top-scored with 12 points, including a win when taking the tactical ride, however no other Rebels rider managed anything higher than 4 points.
Doyle opened with a second place to maximum man Kevin Doolan - who won in the fastest race time of the season so far - but then suffered a fall on the final bend in his next outing. Somerset played their tactical ride card in heat 11, Jason gated well and completed the win for 6 points. Two second places followed, bringing the Aussie to a well deserved 12 points, but it was a disappointing night for the Rebels team.
Somerset need to re-group quickly as their next fixture comes in 24 hours time when they face Sheffield at the Owlerton Stadium. |

Maximum Success
Jason scored a 15 point maximum as Somerset comfortably saw off the challenge of their rivals for the Premier League top-spot, Workington Comets. After a warning in heat 1 for moving at the tapes Doyle made the fastest start in the re-run and was never troubled. This victory was a taste of things to come as the Aussie scorched to a further four wins to achieve his maximum and help the Rebels to a 57-36 victory.

Defeat in Poland
Jason's Rawicz team suffered another home defeat, this time to Latvian side Daugavpils. The final score was 42-48, with the Australian scoring 4 points. His night didn't get off to the best of starts when he suffered mechanical problems in his first ride and didn't complete the race. However, things did improve as Jason managed two third places and a second place to reach his four points.

Dozen for Doyle
Jason notched up 12 points as Somerset claimed a 60-30 home victory over Sheffield. The Doyle/Stephan Katt pairing got the Rebels off to the ideal start with a maximum heat advantage in the opening race. Heat 6 was the only disappointment of the night with Jason falling when attempting to overtake on the outside and being excluded from the re-run. However the tumble didn't seem to affect him as he came out to win his final three rides, twice beating Andre Compton, the only Sheffield rider to offer any sort of resistance. The night ended as it began, with a Somerset 5-1, this time Doyle teaming up with Jordan Frampton.
Somerset's next fixture is at home to the Workington Comets on Friday June 11th.

Maximum at Reading!
Jason scored a huge 20+1 paid maximum tonight as Somerset progressed to the semi-finals of the Premier League Knock-Out Cup. Despite Reading taking victory on the night at Smallmead, the Rebels emerged as 97-90 winners on aggregate. Jason won his first two races from the gate before riding home with Stephan Katt for a Rebels 5-1 in heat 11.
Despite another Doyle victory in a re-run heat 13 Somerset were still trailing by 16 points on the night so up-stepped the Aussie as a tactical substitute off 15 metres. But even this handicap couldn't stop him tonight as he hit the front after a single lap and didn't look back, the result being a Somerset 8-1. This effectively put the away side through but there was no stopping the man as Jason went out and won his third consecutive race to secure a brilliant maximum.
Somerset now face Rye House in the semi-finals of the competition.

Rebels are Runners-Up
The Somerset pairing of Jason Doyle and Emil Kramer finished as runners-up in the Premier League Pairs at the Oak Tree Arena. The Rebels duo completed the group stages of the competition with the highest score (26 points) , including two maximum 7-2 heat advantages. This took them through to face Reading in the second semi-final and the crowd were treated to the race of the night with Doyle being given third place on the line, ahead of Mark Lemon, to give Somerset the points they needed to proceed to the final. Workington, whom Somerset had beaten 6-3 earlier in the evening, were the opponents here. But, despite the earlier victory, the Rebels could not repeat the performance and the scoreline was reversed.
Result: 1st Workington, 2nd Somerset, 3rd Reading, 4th Sheffield.

A Winning Night
Jason received a warm welcome on his return to Poole for Craig Boyce's Farewell meeting, and he didn't disappoint, scoring 10 points. The meeting took the form of a four team tournament, with four riders per team. Jason notched up two race wins and two second places as his team eased to victory on the night.

Points in Poland
Jason produced his best result to date in Poland, but his 9 (paid 11) points couldn't prevent his Rawicz side going down 37-53 at home to Gdansk. Doyle's first two points of the night came as part of a Rawicz 5-1, putting the home team 10-2 up after two heats. But this was the best it got for them before Gdansk turned things around. The Aussie secured three further second places, and a third place in the nominated heat 15, making it a successful night individually even if not for the team.

Rebels Roar to Victory
Somerset strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League with another high-scoring home win, beating the Glasgow Tigers 63-29. Jason scored 12 points from 5 rides, a near perfect night marred only by a tapes exclusion in heat 6. Three consecutive maximum heat advantages in the opening races sent the Rebels out of sight and Glasgow never recovered. Doyle notched up four race wins in total, including teaming up with Matthias Kroger for a 5-1 in heat 15.
Somerset's league campaign is now on hold for three weeks. Their next Premier League fixture sees the Oak Tree Arena play host to Sheffield on July 4th.

Rebels Outshine Diamonds
Jason notched up another paid maximum tonight, scoring 10+2 as Somerset eased to a 65-25 victory over Newcastle Diamonds. The Rebels never looked under threat from the minute Doyle rode Stephan Katt home for a maximum advantage in the opening heat. The Aussie's next two rides added another six points to the Somerset total, before his final outing in heat 13 which provided another Rebels 5-1, courtesy of the Doyle/Fordan Frampton pairing.
Somerset's next fixture is Friday 13th, at home to Glasgow.

Dozen for Doyle
Jason scored 12 (+1) points as Somerset roared to a 55-37 away win against Mildenhall Tigers. The Rebels had the advantage from the outset as Doyle rode to victory in the opening heat with his team-mate in third, and from then on they never looked back. Two more heat wins followed for Jason, before a third place in a shared heat 13. The final race also finished 3-3, with Doyle in a close second.
The win takes Somerset back to the top of the Premier League.

First Leg Flyer
Somerset gained the upper hand in their Knock Out Cup quarter-final, with a convincing 53-39 victory over Reading Racers. Jason top-scored with 12 (paid 13) points in what was originally scheduled to be the secong leg but became the first after Monday's rain-off at Reading. Two heat wins and some formidable team riding from Doyle helped the Rebels gain and then extend their advantage as the meeting went on.
Somerset take this 14 point lead into the second leg which now takes place at Reading on Sunday 29th June. The aggregate winners will go on to face either Birmingham or Rye House in the semi-finals.

Record Breakers
Somerset strengthened their position at the top of the Premier League with a 68-22 win over Stoke, Jason scoring 11 points. The meeting was delayed due to heavy rain before the start but once it got underway the Rebels were keen not to hang around any longer. Jason set the tone for the night by winning heat 1 and the team didn't look back. He went on to accumulate his 11 points with two further victories and a second place.
The Potters failed to record a heat advantage all night and the result was the Rebels' biggest win at the Oak Tree Arena.

Hero of the Hour!
Jason was paid for a massive 20 points at Newcastle tonight as Somerset claimed a last-gasp 48-47 victory over the Diamonds. Riding with a new partner at number two, Stephan Katt, Doyle continued his rich vein of form by completing three race wins and a second place from his first four rides. However, come heat 14, the Rebels were still trailing their opponents by a distance, enabling them to utilise the tactical substitute rule...cue Doyle off 15 metres. The Aussie pulled out all the stops to finish in front and claim a 7-2 heat advantage, with Simon Walker finishing in third place. Somerset still needed to get a 5-1 in the final race to secure the win, and they duly did so with Doyle and Emil Kramer bringing home the victory.

Ten Up for Jason
Jason scored 10 points (paid 11) for Somerset tonight as the Rebels cruised to a 58-34 victory over the Berwick Bandits. As has so often been the case Doyle set the standard for the night right from the start by winning the opening heat, teaming up with Jordan Frampton for a 5-1, a pattern that was repeated in heat 6. Things went slightly awry in heat 10 as Jason fell on the first bend and, seemingly to the bemusement of the other riders, the race was not stopped. However, further success wasn't far away as the Aussie scored another race win and a second place to finish on ten points.
This was a great start to a busy weekend for Somerset as they now go on to face Rye House and Newcastle in away fixtures on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Rebels "Rocket" to the Top
10(+1) points from Jason helped launch Somerset to the top of the Premier League tonight with a massive 66-27 victory over the Rye House Rockets. The Doyle/Frampton pairing proved a difficult one to beat yet again, providing maximum heat advantages in 1 and 6. Tai Woffinden was the only Rockets rider to beat an opponent on the night and Jason finished runner-up to him in heat 10. Natural order was restored in heat 13 with another 5-1 to Somerset, with Doyle shepherding Stephan Katt home for victory from the tapes.

Maximum Man!
Jason scored a maximum at an away meeting for the first time this season as Somerset ran out comfortable winners, 54-39, at Redcar. On a night when it seemed that making the gate was particularly important, the Rebels appeared to be much stronger from the start. The formidable pairing of Doyle and Jordan Frampton provided the Rebels with three maximum heat advantages, before heat 13 saw Jason win ahead of Bears Captain Gary Havelock. This result was repeated in the final race, completing a 15 point maximum for the Aussie Rebel.
Somerset entertain Rye House at the Oak Tree Arena tomorrow.

Double Figures for Doyle
Jason top scored for Somerset, notching up ten points as the Rebels went down 51-39 at Scunthorpe. The meeting opened with the two Rebels, Doyle and Jordan Frampton, coming in second and third place respectively, and Jason then went on to win an eventful heat five, in which Benji Compton's bike ended up on the wrong side of the safety fence. Two more second places followed, before a lengthy battle with Magnus Karlsson in heat 15 which eventually saw Jason squeezed into third place.

Somerset Sting Scorpions
Jason scored 9+2 in a convincing victory for Somerset in their Premier League fixture against the Scunthorpe Scorpions. He helped get the Rebels off to the ideal start, leading Jordan Frampton home for a 5-1 in the opening race, and the same pairing produced maximum points yet again in heat 6. The Aussie Rebel was beaten by an opponent for the only time on the night in his next race but normal service was resumed in heat 13 as Stephan Katt and Doyle rode home another 5-1 heat advantage.
The Rebels travel to Scunthorpe on Monday for the return fixture.

| 01/05/2008 |
Mechanical Misery for Doyle
Jason endured another meeting marred by mechanical problems, scoring two points as Rawicz went down 50-40 at home to Poznan. After an inauspicious start Doyle seemed to have turned the corner with two points from his second ride. However the mechanical gremlins struck with force and the Australian suffered engine failures in both his third and fourth rides.
He now returns to England for the Somerset Rebels' Premier League fixture against Scunthorpe tomorrow night.

Somerset Progress in KOC
Somerset progressed to the next round of the Knockout Cup in a rain affected second leg at the Newcastle Stadium. The meeting was abandoned after heat 13 with the score standing at 39 points apiece and with Jason on eight points from his four completed rides.
The Aussie got off to the perfect start once again with a win in heat 1, however a fall in his next ride meant heat 6 was awarded as a 5-1 to the Diamonds. Another win and a second place to the night's top scorer, Josef Franc, gave Doyle eight points.
The Rebels march on to the second round of the competition with a 103-67 aggregate victory. |
| 25/04/2008 |
Doyle Sparkles Against Diamonds Jason was unbeaten by an opponent for the second time this season as Somerset beat the Newcastle Diamonds 64 - 28 in the first leg of the Knock Out Cup.
Jason got the Rebels off to a great start winning heat 1 and went on to win his next two races before a fall in heat 13, which saw Josef Franc excluded.
The heat was rerun, with Doyle shepherding Stephan Katt home, this gave a 5-1 advantage to the Rebels. A win in heat 15 rounded off a good nights work for the Newcastle born Australian.
The return leg will be run at Newcastle Diamonds on Sunday. |

Disappointment in Poland
Jason suffered a disappointing return to Poland as his Rawicz side went down 60-32 at Rybnik. A nightmare afternoon for the Australian saw him suffer three engine failures whilst in point scoring positions. When fate is so against you it's difficult to compete with it and consequently Jason finished the meeting with a single point. However he is determined to overcome these problems and has enlisted the help of Zenon Kasprzak to tune his engines for the rest of the season. |

Ten of the Best for Jason
A ten point return from Jason helped the Rebels clinch a 48-45 win over Birmingham tonight. Doyle opened with three straight race wins but a poor start in Heat 13 put paid to hopes of a maximum. |

Fourth in Round 4
Jason managed to overcome a suspected broken ankle to finish fourth in Round four of the Linddales Labour Hire Australia Solo Championship. Riding at his home town track in Newcastle, Jason was one of four riders on 12 points after the 20 heats but made it into the A Final on count-back.
In a strong final he finished in fourth place behind the current series leader, and seemingly unbeatable Chris Holder.
Jason is currently sixth in the overall standings with one round remaining. |

Robbed At The Robins
I like the Swindon track, but you just knew that this was going to be a tough meeting. There wasn't any particular reason for the final result, it was a rollercoaster of a night and we were so close but so far from a win. Sometimes you have ups and downs and it was one of those nights. |

Back With A Bang
What a great night! During my first heat I had too much power and had to make some adjustments. Having struggled with my bike setup abit, it was fantastic to get my best score of the season in front of the home fans. I'm still not fully fit but I felt good and it showed. |
